Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

POLFOR003 - Coordinate multi-discipline forensic investigation

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Plan a multi-discipline forensic scene investigation

  1. Assess types of evidence and the nature of the scene/incident to determine need for a multi-discipline investigation.
  2. Conduct a preliminary assessment to identify information necessary for the development of the forensic investigation plan.
  3. Assess information to identify nature of situation, objectives, options for multi-discipline response, and prioritisation and sequencing of examinations.
  4. Evaluate options for multi-discipline response to select and record a course of action.
  5. Identify forensic disciplines required for the investigation to determine the scope of their involvement in the response.
  6. Assess risks to the integrity of forensic investigation, and safety and welfare of personnel in order to develop mitigation.
